Acai Smoothie
We all know about the Acai phenomenon at the moment. Trendy cafe's are serving it like there's no tomorrow with a $12 price tag and the frozen berries are being sold everywhere you look (even supermarkets - whaaat?). It's certainly not an original concept that I'm flagging here and to be honest I'm a bit hesitant in doing so - however I want this space to be a place where I share the food I make on a regular basis, to show you that vegan eating is totally achievable and delicious. So here is my absolute FAVOURITE version of the acai. It's the best smoothie to gulp down in the morning to set the tone of eating for the rest of the day, or after a meal that made your insides twist in repulsion. It's so light and cleansing of your inner-bod you'll feel like a princess I assure you. I've never been the biggest blueberry fan, but I have to say this smoothie totally converts me. YUMOOO! The ingredients might look foreign, but all can be found in the health food section of your supermarket and at a health food store. This tastes waaay better then the frosty acai and banana number that everywhere likes to sell these days. Trust me.
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 fresh ripe banana
- 1 tbsp desiccated coconut
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 scoop of vegan vanilla protein powder (optional)
- 1 tbsp maca powder
- 1 tbsp nut butter
- 1 tbsp aloe vera juice
- plant mylk
Method
- Combine all the ingredients in a blender and add the desired amount of plant mylk. If a thicker smoothie is desired, all frozen bananas could also be used. Blend to combine. Enjoy as a drink, or pour into a bowl and top with superfoods and berries to create a smoothie bowl.
